We Love Designing & Building Pools

We love the end to end process of designing & building pools. From meeting our clients, designing a custom pool, building, then finishing the pool off with all the options and extras. Yes, there is a number of well-proven pool designs, but our skilled staff can collaborate with you to create a special, one-of-a-kind custom concept that will make your dream a reality.

When designing and building a custom pool, we have a number of factors that we have to take into place;

  • The design of your current property
  • The shapes and levels of your land
  • How the pool will blend with your landscaping
  • Your finances and budget
  • How you want your pool to function
  • Lastly, how you will enjoy your new pool

Our Pre-Build Process

1

Site Inspection, Design & Quote

During the site inspection, we will visit your property to assess the area and take measurements. We will work with you to understand your vision for the pool, and to identify any specific features or requirements that you may have.

Using this information, our design team will create a custom pool design that meets your needs and fits seamlessly into your property. This includes choosing the shape, size, and features of the pool, as well as any additional elements such as waterfalls, fire features, landscaping, or decking.

Once the design is complete, we will provide you with a detailed quote that outlines all of the necessary materials, labour, and permits required for the project.

2

Contract, Engineering & Approvals

Once you have approved the design and quote, we will move forward with creating a contract that outlines all of the terms and conditions of the project. This includes details on the payment schedule, warranties, and other important aspects of the project.

We will also be work with engineers to ensure that the pool design meets all necessary safety and engineering standards.

Depending on the complexity of the project, this stage can take up to three weeks. Not to worry, we have extensive experience working with local & state authorities to get all necessary permits and approvals for the project.

3

Excavation, Steel Formwork, Plumbing & Electrical

One of the most exciting days of the project is when we first break dirt! Our team is experienced in pool excavation projects, following all safety requirements, we take great care with the heavy machinery to carefully dig out the new pool area.

We understand how disruptive the excavation process can be, thats why we endeavour to complete the process as quickly and efficiently as possible while not sacrificing quality and safety standards. Once ceomplete we will perform a thorough site inspection so we can move onto the formwork, plumbing and electrical.

Our experience team, start with the steel formwork create framework for the structure from the design specfications for your pool. During this process we will also install the plumbing pipes and fittings for water circulation and drainage as well as the electrical systems, wiring for the pool equipment and lighting.

4

Concrete Pour, Tiles & Coping

The creation of the concrete shell for your pool begins with the application of shotcrete according to your design specifications. We enusre that it is applied evenly and smoothly to create a strong and stable shell. It takes between 4-6 weeks, weather dependant & other factors, for the shortcrete to cure.

Once the concrete has cured, we begin installing the coping tiles, waterline tiles and any of the other finishing details from your pool design. Coping tiles are designed to provide a finished edge that protects the pool structure from water damage. The Waterline tiles are installed below the coping tiles to create a decorative border around the perimeter of the pool.

From our extenisve network of suppliers, we offer a wide range of ceramic, glass and natural stone tiles. Part of the service includes mobile showrooms with our suppliers coming to you.

5

Pool Fence & Inspection

Pool fences are an important safety feature that help to prevent accidents and keep children and pets safe around the pool.

At Castaway Pools, we can offer a variety of pool fencing options to suit your style preferences and budget. We can work with you to help you choose the right fencing solution for your pool or you are free to use your own pool fence supplier if you prefer.

Once the fence has been installed, we will schedule an inspection to ensure that everything meets the necessary safety standards. This may involve checking the fence height and spacing and ensuring that the gate latches and locks properly.

6

Glass Bead Pool Interior

If your pool is not fully tiled then this stage of the pool building process is the application of the interior finish to your pool.

Castaway Pools use a premium glass bead interior finish called Jewels 4 Pools. This interior finish offers a range of benefits that make it superior to traditional pebblecrete finishes.

Jewels 4 Pools is a high-quality interior finish that is made from 100% glass beads. This provides a smooth and durable surface that is more likely to be resistant to stains, algae, and chemical damage, making it a more practical choice than traditional pebblecrete. Unlike pebblecrete finishes that can be rough and abrasive, the glass beads in Jewels 4 Pools create a smooth surface that is gentle on the skin and feet.

Jewels 4 Pools is also available in a range of different colours, giving you the freedom to customise the look of your pool to your liking. From classic blue or aqua to unique and bold colours like black or green, we have a range of options available to suit your personal style.

During the application process, our team of experts carefully and skill-fully apply the Jewels 4 Pools finish to your pool, ensuring it is evenly distributed and smooth. Our attention to detail ensures that every part of your pool has an impeccable finish.

Compared to traditional pebblecrete, the glass bead finish is easier to clean and maintain. It is non-porous, which means that dirt, debris, and other contaminants are less likely to stick to the surface, making it easier to clean and maintain in the long run.

7

Filtration, Heating & Automation

During the filtration stage, we install either a sand or glass media filter, depending on your preference and pool type. Glass media filters are a premium option as they offer better filtration, require less maintenance compared to sand filters and have a longer lifespan.

In addition to the filtration, we offer three pool types to suit individual preferences being – chlorine, saltwater or magnesium. While chlorine pools have been the most common, saltwater and magnesium pools are now becoming the norm due to being lower maintenance and gentler on the skin.

We specialise in the magnesium pool system as it provides many health benefits, including improved skin health and relaxation, while also being environmentally friendly (the excess pool water can also be used on your garden).

During this stage, our team carefully installs and tests each component of the filtration system, heating, and automation to ensure that everything is functioning correctly. We take great care in selecting the highest quality equipment and components and only use trusted brands to ensure that our customers receive the best possible results.

8

Approval

Woohoo, its the best part! Your pool is filled with water and we perform a thorough inspection to ensure everything is in working order. We’ll then hand over the pool to you, providing you with all the necessary information about operating your new pool.

Before you jump in, we recommend waiting at least 24-48 hours for the water to stabilise and reach the desired temperature. During this time, continue to monitor the water levels and chemical balance to ensure everything is just right.

Once the pool is ready for swimming, it’s time to jump in and enjoy! We take pride in creating pools that not only look beautiful but also provide a fun and safe space for you and your family to create lasting memories.

So sit back, relax, and enjoy your brand new Castaway Pool!
